Detailed Itinerary

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 3 hours on tarred and gravel road with stop-over.

• Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by our Tour guide at the airport, then drive from Windhoek, south towards the Kalahari Desert. When travelling from Windhoek to the Kalahari Desert, the route primarily follows the B1 tarred highway south, offering a few convenient attractions before you turn onto the gravel roads leading into the desert region.
• We will have lunch at the lodge, before embarking on a game drive in the afternoon.

• Meals: Lunch & dinner + mineral water in the car.

• Accommodation: 1 night at: Kalahari Anib Lodge or similar

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 4 hours on tarred and gravel road with stop-over.

• We will have breakfast at the Lodge and then a visit at the striking Quiver tree forest, located about 14 km northeast of Keetmanshoop on the farm Gariganus. This national monument features approximately 250 specimens of the distinctive Aloe Dichotoma. These trees, which can live for up to 300 years, make for exceptional photographs. We depart on our way to Fish river Canyon which is known to be the largest canyon in Africa, and second largest in the world after the Grand Canyon. Offering spectacular natural beauty and range of activities, the main attractions are centered around panoramic views and the famous hiking trail.

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 4 hours gravel and tarred road with stop-over.

• We will head towards the Namib Desert and coastal town of Lüderitz. Lüderitz is a quaint, harbor town, known for its German colonial architecture. We also visit Diaz Point and do some birdwatching at the lagoon.

• Meals: lunch & dinner + mineral water in the car

• Accommodation: 2 nights at: Kairos Cottage or similar

• Travelling distance: Approximately 20minutes on tarred road

• After breakfast, we will have a visit Kolmanskop Ghost Town. Just inland from Lüderitz, this abandoned diamond mining town is being reclaimed by the desert sands, offering a surreal and highly photogenic experience. Guided tours are available (usually at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM, with Sunday at 10:00 AM; check in advance for any changes).

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 6 hours gravel road with stop-over.

• We wake up early to enjoy breakfast and we then set off on our journey to the magnificent Sossusvlei. The drive from Lüderitz to Sossusvlei is long, but it takes you through some of Namibia’s most dramatic and iconic desert landscapes.

• Accommodation: 2 nights at:Desert Elegant Lodge or Similar

• We wake up early and pick up our breakfast pack at the lodge. We will depart to a full day of exploring Sossusvlei where you will hike Big Daddy dune, which is the tallest dune in the area at roughly 325meters (1066 feet). Climbing Big Daddy is a tough but rewarding challenge, with breathtaking views over Deadvlei. Escape the midday heat with a walk into the narrow Sesriem canyon. The region’s minimal light pollution and clear skies make it an exceptional location for stargazing.

• Today we depart from Sossusvlei to Swakopmund, one of Namibia's charismatic coastal towns. We stop over at Solitaire, famous for its German cake apple crumble. We continue our journey, passing by the Tropic of Capricorn, Gaub pass and Kuiseb River, where two Germans once hid, trying to escape the South Africans. Upon arrival we will have a city tour to see some of the oldest German historic buildings in Swakopmund, then settle into our accommodation. Swakopmund is a typical German town with its historic buildings built in the years 1884 to 1915.

• After breakfast, you are free to try out some of the many activities Swakopmund has to offer (own account).
These include:
• A boat cruise with a wonderful lunch. Get up close and personal with seals, dolphins and pelicans. Other possible sightings include whales, penguins, cormorants, petrels, gannets and oystercatchers. Enjoy a variety of seafood, soft drinks and sparkling wine.
• Shopping and exploring the historical German buildings in town.
• Sand boarding in the dunes.
• Scenic flights over the Namib dunes and Atlantic Ocean in a small Cessna 210 aircraft of 5 passengers.
• Living Adventure in the dunes looking for small reptiles such as snakes, geckos, lizards and scorpions.
• Quad bike rides in the dunes boasting lovely views of both the sea to the west and the plains on the east.

• We will do some bird-watching at the Walvis Bay Lagoon with the guide, updating our checklist of birds seen so far.

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 5 hours gravel road with stop-over.

• After Breakfast, we drive from Swakopmund to Damaraland whichoffers dramatic changes in landscapes from the coastal mist to rugged desert mountains. You will see an accessible shipwreck located near Jakkalsputz (just north of Windpomp 14), providing an atmospheric photo opportunity and a haunting piece of history along the coast. There are no entrance fees.

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 3 hours gravel road with stop-over. • After breakfast, we leave for Twyfelfontein, where we enjoy lunch at the Twyfelfontein Country Lodge. Twyfelfontein is the site of one of the largest concentrations of rock petroglyphs (engravings) and rock paintings in Africa. It consists of a spring in a valley flanked by the slopes of a sandstone mountain. The rock art forms an extensive record of ritual practices relating to hunter-gatherer communities in this part of southern Africa over at least 2 millennia. UNESCO approved it as Namibia's first World Heritage Site in 2007.

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 3 hours on gravel road. • The drive from Twyfelfontein to Kaokoland offers stunning desert landscapes and unique cultural experiences as you meet Himba people. With some luck, you can spot the rare desert Elephant here, along with various antelope species. Hike in the Himba territory, in the wild landscape of the Kaokoland to meet this mysterious people. Keep an eye on scattered Herero and Himba Villages as we drive through the beautiful landscape of Kaokoland. Arriving in Opuwo town which is the largest town in the North West, we check in at our lodge, having a relaxing evening.

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 3 hours on gravel road. • After a day journey out of the ordinary, you will now visit one of the Himba villages to experience their lifestyle as we travel to the famous Epupa Falls, a real paradise comprising of Baobabs, palm trees and luxurious vegetation. Epupa is always inhabited by the Himba.

• Travelling Distance: Approximately 8 hours on gravel roads with stop-over.

• We are on the way to Etosha National Park - wildlife sanctuary and treasure of Namibia, considered to be one of the most loved and most visited game parks of Africa! We are welcomed by wild animals and white sand of the plains. During afternoon game ride, admiring variety of magnificent animals, The Park is home to hundreds of species of mammals, birds and reptiles, including several threatened and endangered species such as the black rhino. Visitors can expect to see many buck species, elephants, giraffe, rhino and lions. If you are lucky you will see leopard and cheetah. After good rains, the salt pan fills with water attracting a mass of flamingos. More than 340 bird species have been counted in the park. Arrival at Galton Gate of Etosha in the afternoon, we have enough time for afternoon game drive around the park.
